….I’m here to deliver, says Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reiterated his commitment to delivering on his constitutional mandate in the ministry of interior.
Tunji-Ojo stated this while addressing the head of the agencies under the supervision of the Ministry after assuming office.
Recall that @Hon BTO Bunmi Ojo and 45 other ministers were sworn in by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Monday.
At his maiden meeting with staff of the Ministry, Tunji-Ojo called for synergy among the paramilitary service chiefs in the ministry.
While charging them to discharge their duties in line with the law, he said, “I am here to work, but in working we must have a good environment. The work of this ministry affects everyone, whether you are rich or poor.
“I don’t lead from the back; I lead from the front. We will try, and we will do our best to provide leadership built on the foundation of your support.
“I am here to make a change and to deliver results, and I need you to help me do that.
He also stated that while he would do his utmost to ensure that the ministry meets its set expectations and goals, he won’t hesitate to hold any of the paramilitary chiefs responsible if they fail to rightfully discharge their duties.
According to him, just as the president will hold him accountable, he will also hold the paramilitary chiefs responsible for their respective agencies.
“Just as Mr. President will hold me accountable for whatever happens in the Ministry of Interior, I will never hold your subordinates responsible for anything; I will hold you responsible for anything that goes wrong”, he added.
In her response, the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyi Akinlade, expressed excitement at the designation of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to the ministry; she also reassured the minister of the support of all its personnel.
Present at the meeting are the Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa; the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration, Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola; the Controller General (CG) of the Federal Fire Service, Abdulganiyu Jaji; and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi.
AIYEDATIWA EXCITED AS BTO BECOMES MINISTER OF INTERIOR
Ondo State Acting Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa yesterday said the State is exceedingly proud and most delighted as Oke Agbe Akoko-born, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO) becomes the Minister of Interior.
The Acting Governor said, the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON and the good people of the State are eternally grateful and thankful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for honouring the State with this prestigious position.
In a statement on Monday in Abuja after the swear-in of BTO as member of Federal Executive Council, Aiyedatiwa recalled some of the achievements of BTO as member of the 9th National Assembly while representing Akoko Northeast/ Akoko Northwest Federal Constituency.
He described the honourable Minister as an esteemed politician who serves humanity with fervour.
“Having observed your remarkable achievements during your tenure as member of the 9th Assembly at the Federal House of Representatives, iam confident that you will bring the same level of dedication, vision and transformative ideas in your new role” .
“Your success at the 9th Assembly serves as a reminder that, hard work, dedication and integrity are values that lead to substantial accomplishments” , he said.
Aiyedatiwa further expressed optimism in BTO ability to take the ministry to greater heights by adding values to President Tinubu’s cabinet.
Meanwhile, the Acting Governor also disclosed that the sunshine state shared in the joy of former Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Gboyega Oyetola on his inuaguration as Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy as well as Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi SAN, as honourable Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation.
Aiyedatiwa noted the immense contributions of the new Ministers in fostering unity, promoting social justice and development of Nigeria.
He wished them and other Ministers more success as they take up the responsibilities and challenges of their new offices in the Renewed Hope administration of Mr President.
Ondo State Acting Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa graced the Dinner to commemorate the newly sworn-in Minister of Interior, Hon Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, held at The Wells Cariton Hotel and Apartment, No 8 Nasko Street, Asokoro, Abuja yesterday.
In attendance at the Inauguration Dinner organized for BTO were; Commissioner for Finance, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, the Deji of Akure and Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, Olowa of Igbara-Oke, Oba Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Olayato Aribo, Prince Biyi Poroye, Some federal lawmakers including Hon Festus Akingbaso, Hon Donald Ojogo, Hon Adefiranye as well as firmer State Chairman of the PDP, Clement Faboyede among other dignitaries.
Also in Abuja, State Chairman of APC in Ondo State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, House of Representatives member representing Akoko South East/South West Federal Constituency Hon. Adefarati Gboyega, Chairman of Ondo State SUBEB, Rt Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Community Development, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, the Ondo State Governor’s Special Adviser on Environment, Hon Oyeniyi Oseni, Former Reps member, Hon Tajudeen Adefisoye ‘Small Alhaji’; former SSG, Abegunde Abena, An aspirant for House of Reps in Akoko North federal constituency, Alhaji Adekunle Saliu and other political bigwigs from the state were at the inauguration party of the Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
