About 2,000 farmers have benefited from the empowerment of the Senator Representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Pastor Jide Ipinsagba.

The farmers, under the aegis of Ondo State Farmersʼ Association, on Thursday were given bags of fertilizer to boost their farm crops.

Speaking at the programme, Ipinsagba said the empowerment was the fulfillment of his promise made to farmers during his campaign tour, adding that plans are afoot to empower more constituents in the district.

Represented by his Legislative Aide, Hon. Aladetimehin Olusola, the lawmaker urged the people to throw thier weight behind the Akeredolu-led administration, stressing that the Sunshine State has witnessed tremendous development in the last 7 years.

“I want to express my sincere apologies for my absence, as we have been diligently engaged in our oversight functions.”

“During my campaign tour, I made a commitment to support our hardworking farmers. I pledged to stand by them, and I am proud to announce that I have fulfilled that promise”, Ipinsagba said briefly.

A Representative of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mrs. Sadeko Modupe, therefore advised the beneficiaries to fiddle away the conventional idea of selling empowerment items, emphasizing that the fertilizers are meant to provide plants essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus among others.

“Please don’t sell the fertilizer, it will not only increase the quantity of crops but also enhance their quality. They contribute to better fruit size, color, taste, and nutritional content, making produce more marketable and valuable”, she stated.

On his part, the Zonal Chairman of the Association, Ajayi Emmanuel, bemoaned lack of government support for farmers, noting that the gesture will go along way to boost farm produce.

Ajayi also urged other politicians to emulate the good gesture, while he thanked Ipinsagba for empowering low-income farmers in the six Local Governments in the area.

A beneficiary, who is also a community leader, Oluduro Johnson said “Ipinsagba has proved to be accountable and responsible to his constituents, we have been yearning for this for a very along time, but we lacked the wherewithal to purchase it”
