Sunshine Stars players stranded, in danger, as Club’s Bus breakdown again on Highway

…..the same Bus developed fault over 7 times last football season on roads to the northern part of the country, subjecting the players to security dangers and affecting their performance sometimes….

….Stakeholders task Ondo govt, Sports Commissioner, Ologun to secure new Bus for the club to avoid further embarrassment.

Football stakeholders in Ondo State are calling on the Government of Ondo State as well as the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon Dele Ologun, to come to the rescue of Sunshine Stars’ players and officials who experienced hardship while travelling for league matches outside the state.

This is coming after players and officials of the team were left stranded in Oka – Akoko for 8 hours as the coaster bus conveying them developed a fault which is yet to be rectified while traveling for second match or the season against Lobi Stars in Makurdi, Venue State.

Mr John Olabode, who expressed his disappointment at the failure of  the state government in prioritizing the welfare of the players, said, “It is embarrassing to see professional players of Sunshine stars take shelter at motor parks and car wash while the vehicle is repaired .

“I learnt the team’s next match is in Lafia , and leaving Akure for Lafia today isn’t bad but the travails of players and officials is becoming worrisome, this shouldn’t be happening our dear players and officials,” he said.

Also, Mr Lucky Orimbaku called on the state government to come to the aid of Sunshine Stars by providing a good team bus for the team so that the hardship encountered each time Sunshine Stars travel for away matches would come to end.

Orimbaku said the recurring stress on the players will always affect the outcome of the matches and the state government must invest more in sports.

It would be recalled that the team bus developed faults over 7 times last football season enroute the northern part of the country subjecting the contingent to various forms of hazards and dangers before getting to match Venues.

Sunshine Stars defeated Kano pillars 1-0 over the weekend in the first league match of the 2023/2024 football season and are set to play against lobi stars of Makurdi this weekend at the Lafia City stadium, their adopted home .

Also, football lovers who saw the team bus In the Akoko axis of the state  and helped the team bus get back on the road, urged the state government to support the team more.
