Ondo 2024: Participate actively in ongoing CVR —APC Chieftain, Edema tells residents

A governorship aspirant who contested the gubernatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on April 20 in Ondo State, Olugbenga Edema, on Tuesday appealed to the people of the state to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) ahead of the off-cycle governorship election on November 16.

Stressing the need to key into the process, Edema maintained that the electorate’s power lies in their ability to elect the state’s next leader for the next four years.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday commenced Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Ondo State ahead of the governorship election.

The former Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC), in a statement made available to journalists in Akure, the state capital, emphasised that each vote matters and will have a direct impact on the outcome of the election.

He stated that the people must endeavour to exercise their civic duty by getting involved in shaping the future of the state through the power of their votes.

Edema, who had also served as a representative of the state on the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), harped on the need for the electorate to obtain their voter cards and engage in the democratic process.

The former legislator and lawyer, however, cautioned the people against compromising their votes for financial gains.

He urged the electorate to uphold the integrity of the electoral system by making informed decisions based on the candidates’ merits and their manifestos rather than succumbing to inducements that could undermine the democratic process.
