The Akogun of Okaland and Ondo state Governor’s Special Adviser on Transportation, Hon. (Dr) Olugbenga Omole has expresses appreciation to major stakeholders to see to the success of this year’s Akogun Annual Football Competition in Oka Akoko where a former Super Eagles’ legend, Victor Ikpeba was the chief guest.
In an appreciation message, Akogun Omole, a former State lawmaker, specifically appreciated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Victor Ikpeba, the Traditional ruler of Okaland, top government’s functionaries and friends.
The Final of the competition was held on Friday 2nd August, 2024 at Ojomirin High School Agba, Oka Akoko.
Hon. Omole had said that the Akogun Football Competition, was part of his contributions to encourage grassroots football and youth empowerment in the country.
The Governor’s Aide said “First and foremost I want to thank the Almighty God for the success of Akogun Annual Football Competition 2024 the 6th Edition.
“My Gratitude goes to the Executive Governor of Ondo State Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa who hosted our Guests and encouraged us.
“I also thank the Governor who is the Leader of the State for the peace we are enjoying in Ondo State at the moment. Development and growth can only happen where there’s peace.
“We wouldn’t have bee able to host this competition successfully if there was protest in Ondo State and on this note I want to give it to Governor Aiyedatiwa.
“My sincere appreciation goes to the ‘Prince of Monaco’ and the African Footballer of the Year 1997 VICTOR IKPEBA and his crew namely Dapo Sotiminu, Attai Udia and Paul Ojo who braved the odds to get to Akure by road after flight cancellation in the midst of the Nationwide Protest.
“I can’t but thank our revered Kabiyesi the Olubaka of Oka Akoko, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr) Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, OON for his fatherly role year in year out. Ondo State FA Chairman Otunba Dele Ajayi, Ondo State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Saka Yusuf- Ogunleye; the Executive Chairman Ondo State Football Development Agency, Otunba Dele Ologun.
“And to my friends who supported me, Hon.Timehin Adelegbe, Hon. Abiola Makinde, Engr. Jide Akinyede, Goke Ayara, Dr Jide Adewinle, Mr Olayato Aribo, Ayo Durodola and the Bobagunwa of Oka Dr Victor Ategbole.
