Comrade Samuel Fajana, the Oloriodo of Isinkan land in Akure West LCDA, today congratulated the people of Akure over the 2024 Aheregbe festival.

Fajana who is the official Youth Leader of Isinkan Kingdom made the call when interviewed by journalists at Ajebamidele in Isinkan on Monday.

Responding to media enquiries over the planned closure of markets in Akure, the apex youth leader stated that “there is no issue there at all. This is Isinkan . That is Akure; two separate communities that used to be small villages in ancient times but are now seemingly linked together by expansion and civilization due to proximity.

“Isinkan youths wish their counterparts in Akure a successful celebration. The festival is limited to Akure and its subordinate communities. It does not cross over or extend to Isinkan. Isinkan is a separate community with its traditions and festivals.

“Strangers today may think this is how the towns have always been. No way. Some 70 years, 100 years ago, you would have to trekk through the forests of Igboyegun and Imogun to reach Isinkan. Those places are now all built up. The present site of St. Thomas Anglican Church was where the Oba’s forest prison was located in Isinkan while prisoners sentenced to death by the Iralepo in Council were executed at Imogun.

The Youth Leader further added that “Whenever there is Aheregbe in Akure, the people of Akure would come to Isinkan and Isolo for their business activities

“So, I congratulate the people of Akure on the 2024 Aheregbe. I am not an indegene of Akure. I am an indegene of Isinkan but I can only wish my neighbours peace” he concluded.
