Ondo Information Technology Agency partners NSCDC to safeguard telecoms infrastructure

The Ondo State Information Technology Agency (SITA) has decried the vandalisation of telecommunications facilities by vandals,following multiple complaints by telecoms investors within the state.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Ondo State Governor on ICT, Hon Tomide Akinribido, disclosed this during an official visit to the state Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Akure.

The SSA who led the Permanent Secretary and directors of SITA on the visit,explained that the state government would no longer tolerate any act of vandalism of telecoms infrastructure.

He further encouraged the corps to deploy enabling laws, subsidiary legislations and extant guidelines to arrest any form of criminality in the telecoms sector.

Speaking during the visit,Hon Akinribido stated that the visit was necessary to further enhance the cooperation and partnership between NSCDC and the Ondo state information technology agency in ensuring that telecommunications equipments within the state are safeguarded.

“We therefore note the need for collaboration and synergy between NSCDC and the state government in protecting the facilities”,Akinribido said.

The Ondo state NSCDC commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, said in his response that “the command will continue to collaborate with the state government in fighting vandalism tendencies and their actors. They will not be allowed to have a haven in the state”.

“The corps is saddled with the responsibility of protecting critical national assets and infrastructures,which will be sustained. We are assuring the agency and state government of our continued support at all times”.
