No fewer than one hundred Postgraduate Students studying various courses at the Ondo State Public Service Training Institute (PSTI) were matriculated by the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) during a matriculation ceremony held at the PSTI, Ilara- Mokin on Tuesday, 21st January, 2025.
Speaking shortly after the Oath of Allegiance was administered on the matriculants by the Registrar of AAUA, Mr. Olugbenga Arajulu who was represented by Barr. Grace Olubunmi Babalola, Deputy Registrar Academic Affairs, the Director General, PSTI, Dr. Olumide Asere said the matriculation ceremony in collaboration with the AAUA was a milestone achievement.
He stressed that ceremony underscored the fact that the PSTI, which was patterned after notable Institutions like the Malaysian Institute of Public Administration, the Centre for Management Development (CMD) among others, is, indeed, living up to expectations to redefine training, retraining and capacity building in line with global best practices in the State.
Dr. Asere while giving kudos to the Governor of Ondo State, His Exellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his massive support, he also appreciated the Head of Service, past and present whose vision contributed immensely to the birth and success that the PSTI is celebrating.
The DG who further assured that the Institute remains committed to qualitative training, also used the occasion to particularly thank the Vice Chancellor of the AAUA, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, to whom the success of the day’s event was ascribed.
The PSTI boss emphasized that the Institute now have Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Management and Quality Assurance, and Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration and Strategic Studies.
In his remarks, the Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Phillips, who was represented by Mrs. R.O Dare-Atunse, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishments and Training, commended the the PSTI and AAUA for the forwarding-looking collaboration between the two state-own institutions.
The number one civil servant in ondo state congratulated the students as he expressed his joy to be part of the event which he described as being in tandem with the vision of Governor Aiyedatiwa as encapsulated in the EASE Agenda of which educational advancement and human capital development are cardinal parts.
Mr. Bayo Philip who further congratulated the PSTI and the management of AAUA for partnering on knowledge sharing, applauded the matriculants for taking up the challenge to improve their knowledge.
Earlier in his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Prof. Olugbenga Ige described the training as a giant stride in AAUA as it represents high level man power training, as he charged the students to stay focused on improving their knowledge as the University will not condone any anti-social behaviour.
The VC also affirmed the commitment of the University to advance knowledge and skills of public officers in government establishments in the State in particular and Nigeria in general.
