Ondo Amotekun arrests Suspect fleeing with Handcuffs, goes tough on bandits from the North

The Ondo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps has vowed that security agencies will ensure no fleeing bandit will be allowed to strike in the southwest region.

The Corps also said it is working round the clock with other sister security agencies and Neighbouring state Amotekun Corps, to stop influx of escaping bandits from the north parts of the country.

The State Commander of Ondo State Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye made this known in Akure while parading twenty-one suspected criminals linked with different offences in the state during the recently ended yuletide season.

He noted that undisclosed number of Amotekun officers would be deployed to prevent movement of bandits who fled from military operations in the north from attacking the Southwest zone.

According to the Commander, those arrested included; four suspected kidnappers, five herders alleged of violating the anti-open grazing law, and 12 others charged with a range of offences including theft, assault, and attempted murder.

Adeleye also paraded one notorious suspect who allegedly used a rod and pestle to knock unsuspecting Okada riders unconscious and steal their motorcycles in Irele axis.

Also, a suspect, Noel Bulus, who escaped from a security agency’s custody with handcuffs was among the suspects.

The Amotekun Boss apprehended a Bulus was nabbed with handcuffed, whose undisclosed captivity is now the subject of investigation to determine which security agency may have been involved in his initial detention.

The Corps Commander also disclosed that the state formation would be rounding off its yuletide patrol and intensify security in the forests of the state due to increase in security breaches in the forests.

He said: “We are rounding up the Yuletide 24-7 patrol and we are concentrating more on the armored rangers as a result of the increasing rate of security breaches on our forests.

“Across the board we have four kidnapped suspects, five that violated the anti-open grazing law and 12 that breached the general law and order of the state. The implication of this after due analysis is that the state is relatively peaceful .

“The security breaches we have ranges from suspected kidnappers, fighting and civil disorder, wandering, anti-grazing, stealing of phones and attempted murder, stealing of aluminum products, destruction of properties, conspiracy and stealing of motorcycles, conspiracy, stealing and aiding and abetting of motorcycles.

“The breaches at our borders had reduced as a result of the activities of the Amotekun Rangers and we also want to thank the public for giving us timely information.

“In the last one month, the Corps had intervened in about 15 kidnap issues that the timely intervention foiled the kidnapping.

“So, we want to thank the  public and ask for their support in the provision of more actionable information such that once we have such information, especially through our distress call line which remains 0807999989, you can be sure that relief will come your way immediately.”

In an interview, Bulus explained that he was arrested for wandering in a street and was handed over to the police where he was handcuffed.

He said: “When the man saw me, he promised to help me cut the handcuffs. So, he asked me to sit where he saw me. Shortly after, when I looked back, I saw Amotekun behind me and they arrested me.”
