Olamide Falana gifts Ondo Newborn, condemns child abandonment

The immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender Matters, Chief (Mrs.) Olamide Falana and Founder, Girls to Women Research and Development Center (G2W) has visited and gifted baby Oluwaseun Orimisan Ayedatiwa, the newborn which was recently found by community based health workers in Akure metropolis.

Chief Mrs. Falana paid a visit to the hospital where the infant was being cared for alongside a team of Fiwasaye Girl’s Grammar School 99’ Set who visited the healthcare facility in line with their week celebration.

She said the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the innocent baby seems unfortunate but opined that it would end well as feasible arrangements by the state government have been made for proper care and safe keep.

In her words “This incident is a call to mind that family planning is key to the prevention of unplanned babies as well as a hint to members of the public that there are better ways to handle unwanted babies by way of putting up the baby for adoption instead”.

“I seize this opportunity to inform women in our community that there is a guarantee that the state government has in place a reputable adoption plan with attachment to a good family for ideal wellbeing and growth incase of unintended pregnancies in view of the fact that every child matters”.

Parents seeking the adoption of children should reach out to Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs for legal adoption rather than resort to clandestine ways, which will have legal repercussions.

She frowned at criminals running baby factories in some parts of the country, stating that Ondo is a no-go area for such heinous crimes against humanity as the state has laws and monitoring framework for prevention.

She appreciated the healthcare workers for acting swiftly on the incident while she presented cash gift to the baby as a token of love and support for the baby.
