Ondo Gov’s Aide, Engr. Olawoye inspects road projects, tasks contractors on Quality delivery

The Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, FNSE, has emphasized the need for contractors handling various infrastructural projects in the state to adhere strictly to quality standards and engineering best practices.

He stated that all projects must align with laid-down specifications, ensuring upmost quality, durability, and adherence to global best practices.

According to Engr. Olawoye, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration is committed to delivering sustainable infrastructure that meets the needs of the people.

During an inspection tour on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Engr. Olawoye, alongside top officials from the Ministry of Works, assessed the ongoing construction of the 27.9km Ode Ajagba road, which spans the East-West axis to Akotogbo (14.513km) and South-East to Ijiosun (13.425km) in Irele Local Government Area.

The team evaluated the quality of materials used, the compaction levels of the sub-base, and the conformity of all hydraulic structures to hydrological standards.

He reiterated that all contractors must ensure proper asphalt thickness, reinforcement integrity in reinforced concrete structures, and adherence to geotechnical recommendations to guarantee longevity and resilience against environmental factors.

Addressing the contractors on-site, Engr. Olawoye stressed the importance of timely project execution without compromising quality, stating that all works must be delivered within the stipulated completion timeframe.

He warned that substandard jobs and delayed completion will not be tolerated, emphasizing the government’s zero-tolerance policy for engineering defects and project delays. Accompanying him during the inspection were Engr. Akin Omotola, Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Works, and other directors, who collectively assured the public of the government’s commitment to modern and efficient infrastructure development across Ondo State.
