Oba-Ile Community installs Regent amidst Traditional rites for late monarch in Akure North

Some eminent Indigenes of Oba Ile have advised the newly-installed regent of the community, Princess Adefoluke Adu-Agunbiade, to emulate the virtues of her late father, Oloba of Oba Ile, Oba Joseph Oluwadare Agunbiade, in ensuring greater development in the community during her regency.

Oba Agunbiade died on May 9,2025 after reigning for 39 years.

Speaking with newsmen on Sunday after installation of Princess Adu-Agunbiade at the Oloba’s Palace in Oba Ile, the most senior chief, Chief David Arebisola, said that the installation is in line with culture and custom of the community so that there would no vacuum in the palace.

Arebisola, who is Odofin of Oba Ile, enjoined the regent to toe the path of her father who he described as a man with large heart, stating that the late monarch was listening and accommodating.

Similarly, Chief Oluwatimilehin Gbemisayo, the Elemo of Oba Ile, asked the new regent to collaborate with all and shun any form of division.

Chief Elemo advised indigenes and residents of Oba Ile to come together and support the regent.

In his remarks, Chief Adedipe Ileowo, the Adaja of Oba Ile, said that the regent was installed after seven-day interregnum for traditional rites.

He described the late monarch a man of peace who installed most chiefs in the community.

The former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Saka-Yusuf Ogunleye, asked the regent to continue good legacies laid by the late monarch.

Ogunleye, who is an indigent of the community, said that the new regent needs support and cooperation of all to achieve success.

Appreciating the new traditional position, Princess Adu- Agunbiade, aged 55, appealed to all and sundry to support her regency, stating that there should be resolution to all grievances and rancour among indigenes of the community.

She called on indigenes outside the community to render their support for development of the community.
