In a bid to avert potential unrest and crisis, the Mahin/Aheri/Etikan Youth Congress and Board of Trustees have taken decisive action by cancelling the congress that produced factional leaders.
In a letter addressed to the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and relevant security agencies in the state, the youth leaders announced the cancellation of purported illegal and parallel elections, conducted recently by different interest groups in the association.
The move comes amid concerns over possible conflicts and disruptions that the parallel elections could spark. By canceling these unauthorized elections, the youth leaders aim to maintain peace and stability in the region.
“We prioritize the safety and well-being of our community, our decision is guided by the need to avoid unnecessary tensions and ensure harmony among our people.”
The letter to Governor Aiyedatiwa and security agencies underscores the group’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and responsible leadership.
The development is expected to bring relief to residents and stakeholders in the affected areas.
They noted that further details on the new date for a credible and acceptable election will be announced as soon as the electoral committee is constituted.
