The Ondo State Government has dismissed reports alleging structural failure at the ongoing construction site of the state’s new Judiciary Complex in Akure.
Speaking during an inspection of the project on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 on behalf of the State Governor, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr Abiola Olawoye, noted there was no truth to claims circulating that parts of the complex had collapsed.
“We have moved round all the 10 buildings in this project, including the ceremonial court, modular courts A to G, the utility building, and the registry building. There is no structural failure. The workers are doing perfect work,” the Olawoye said.
He explained that before construction began, thorough soil investigations and reinforcement checks were carried out, with proper compliance systems in place.
He noted that work on the complex was already between 45 and 50 percent complete, and tests such as cube, integrity, and balsamatic strength assessments had been consistently conducted without any sign of defects in the structures.
“By God’s grace, very soon this project will come to an end. The contractor, in collaboration with consultants and the ministry, is ensuring that every stage meets quality standards,” Engr Olawoye added.
The Judiciary Complex comprises 10 major structures and is expected to significantly improve judicial operations in the state once completed. The construction was flagged off by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in December last year.
The new Judiciary Complex, named after former Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, will feature modern facilities, including a ceremonial court, modular courts, a registry, a library, exhibition buildings, a utility building, and parking facilities.
In expressing his profound satisfaction with the quality and progress of work on the new State Judiciary Complex in Akure, the Governor said the project, being handled by Westfield Global Construction Ltd, is a testament to the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional infrastructure.
Aiyedatiwa commended Westfield Global Construction Ltd for adhering to the timeline and delivering high-quality work.
The Founder of Westfield Global Construction Ltd, Abdulwasiu Adebisi, expressed his gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to good governance and infrastructure development in Ondo State.
Abdulwasiu Adebisi remarked: “I appreciate Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, which has enabled us to work efficiently and effectively towards completing this project.
Westfield Global Construction Ltd’s dedication to delivering high-quality work on this project has earned them recognition and praise from the state government, further solidifying their reputation as a leading construction company in Nigeria.
