Comrades Alabi Isaiah, Sina Ajisafe, Kehinde Segun Alabi, and Temitope Dare also emerged as ex-officio members.
Speaking with newsmen, Barrister Femi Omosua, who polled 15 votes to defeat Pastor Femi Akinlabi who had six votes in the chairmanship election, described his emergence as a surprise and a divine call to service.
He added that the Liberal Platform focuses on service to humanity and charity which are in line with his vision in life, promising to run an all-inclusive government.
His words: “We are going to inject new innovation and take the association to another level. We are going to reach out to youths, the less privileged and the downtrodden.
“We have been given a responsibility to govern but we will work with everyone to achieve the purpose for which this platform was created.”
Earlier, the Founder of the Liberal Platform, Hon. Demola Ijabiyi, traced the origin of the group to May 2015 when its first annual general assembly was held, saying that the organisation had carried out several developmental and people-oriented activities since then.
According to Hon. Ijabiyi, such activities include the preparation of a roadmap for Ondo State which was presented to the state government, together with a security and web creation seminar sponsored and delivered by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim.
He also seized the occasion to appreciate Senator Bode Olajumoke, Barrister Shola Ajisafe and every other person who had been supporting the association financially and morally.
In his welcome address, the Chairman Interim Committee of the Liberal Platform, Pastor Femi Akinlabi, thanked everyone for coming, expressing his joy that the Liberal Platform which started as a WhatsApp group 10 years earlier had metamorphosed into a physical body with various programmes affecting lives across Ondo State.
Pastor Akinlabi who was represented by Barrister Wole Akingbasote thanked all those who had contributed towards past projects of the Platform, including donations made to the less privileged and victims of the Owo bomb blast, saying, “This may look insignificant to many, but it is a laudable project that gladdens the heart of God.”
He also called for peace among members, instead of bitterness and rancour, identifying it as the only way to make the association better.
