Sexual Predator Nabbed in Ore: Suspect Ingests Poison After Assaulting Minor

The Ondo State Police Command wishes to inform the public of the arrest of one Bolaji Oluwasetire ‘M’, of Osoro Area, Ore, over a disturbing case of indecent assault involving a minor.

On 1st October, 2025, at about 2145hrs, the Police in Ore Division received a report from Kolawole Joseph ‘M’ of NNPC Depot Area, Ore, that his six-year-old daughter had been indecently assaulted by the suspect, who was caught in the act of forcing the minor to rub his genitals with her hands. Acting swiftly on the report, detectives from the Gender Desk Office, Ore Police Divisional Headquarters, were immediately dispatched to the scene, where the suspect was arrested and taken into custody for interrogation.
While in custody, however, the suspect suddenly began to vomit a greenish substance.

Upon questioning, he confessed to having ingested herbicide in a desperate attempt to escape justice for his shameful and criminal conduct. He was immediately rushed to the General Hospital, Ore, where he is currently receiving medical treatment under close monitoring.

The Command wishes to reassure members of the public that the case is being pursued with the utmost seriousness. The minor victim is safe, and appropriate support services are being provided to her family. Investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will face the full weight of the law upon recovery.

Reiterating the Command’s zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, emphasized that no offender will escape justice under his watch.

He further commended the strategic leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, whose proactive and people-centered policing vision has continued to strengthen the determination of the Nigeria Police Force to protect children and vulnerable persons across the country.

The Command therefore enjoins parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspected case of abuse, no matter how seemingly minor. Let it be clearly stated that Ondo State will never be a safe haven for sexual predators. Perpetrators of sexual and gender-based violence will be hunted down, arrested, and decisively prosecuted. No hiding place for offenders.
