Just In: No more opposition in Ondo Assembly, as all PDP lawmakers defect to APC

REMAINING ASSEMBLY PDP LAWMAKERS DUMP PARTY TO JOIN APC.

Barely five weeks after the resignation of two lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC),the remaining two members have also defected to the ruling party respectively.

The two decampees includes:the former House minority leader representing Akure South 1 Constituency,Hon.Olajide Oguntodu and his deputy,the lawmaker representing Akoko South West, Constituency 1,Hon.Oluwatoyin Daodu.

The lawmakers formally resigned their membership from PDP to the ruling party during plenary session which was presided over by the Speaker of the House,Rt.Hon(Chief) Olamide Oladiji in Akure today.

Reading their letters of resignation on the floor of the House respectively, the Speaker welcomed the decampees, expressing optimism that the defections would further strengthen the APC’s numerical advantage in the House.

According to the two decampees in their resignation letters, they explained that they took the decision following wide consultations with family members, constituents and leaders who advised them to join the winning party citing internal crisis within PDP among others.

The Speaker of the House thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his exceptional leadership acumen, describing the development as first of its kind in the history of Ondo State.

While also lauding the various initiatives of the Governor of Ondo State,Dr.Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa which has brought progress to the sunshine State, Oladiji urged the new decampees to contribute to the party’s growth in order to achieve a common goal.

In another vein, speaking on matters of urgent public importance, the House expressed displeasure over the deplorable conditions of the Ogbagi Akoko/Irun Akoko roads in Akoko North _west Local Government Area of the State.

The House Majority leader,Hon.Olatunji Oshati, described the poor condition of the road as a serious threat to lives and property.
Adding his voice,the Deputy Speaker of the House,Rt.Hon.Gbegudu Ololade , observed that if the roads are not urgently fixed,it may affect the economic growth of the State as a whole.

Sympathizing with the road users,he called on relevant authorities to respond to the plight of the road users.

In his contribution, the lawmaker representing Akoko North West 2,Hon(Barr)Afe Felix, expressed concern over the terrible condition of the roads, saying that the roads had long been abandoned.

In its resolutions, the House appealed to the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi and the Director General of Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FEMA) to urgently attend to the roads.

The House also directed the House Committee on Works and Infrastructure to liaise with FERMA and report back to the House within within a stipulated time.
