Ondo govt brainstorms with key stakeholders on 30-Year Development Plan

The Ondo State government has convened a high-level 2-Day Stakeholders Validation Workshop for the State’s Long-Term Development Blueprint, tagged ONDO 2056.

This is in line with the government’s vision to transform Ondo State into a beacon of excellence in a digitally-driven economy through innovation, infrastructure, inclusive growth, and environmental sustainability.

While declaring the workshop open in Akure, the State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Laolu Akindolire, described the Plan as a scientifically grounded stakeholder-driven blueprint which strategically aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and the State’s “OUR EASE” policy.

Mr Akindolire, who described the workshop as a landmark event to finalize an inclusive and strategic vision that will guide the state’s growth and transformation over the next three decades added that it will also produce a strategic document that encapsulates the collective vision and aspirations of the people of the State.

According to him, the forum, which had in attendance the representatives of Religious and Traditional Institutions, Artisans, Youth Academia, the Media , CSOs and Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government will provide avenue for designing a blue print that will guide all MDAs in implementing effective short and medium-term strategies for the State’s future development.

He said “This workshop is not just a formality. It is a platform for deepening ownership and legitimacy of the ONDO 2056 plan. We are building a future where every citizen has a stake and a voice,”

He added “The ONDO 2056 Plan sets out strategic goals across key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, technology, security, and environmental sustainability. It aligns with national and global development frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Nigeria’s Agenda 2050”.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Administrative Secretary of the Economic Planning and Coordinating Office, Mr Bamidele Daisi described the Plan as “a roadmap for inclusive growth, sustainability, and long-term prosperity.”

He commended Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his visionary leadership and praised the Commissioner for his exceptional coordination of the process.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the chairman, Ondo State House of Assembly committee on appropriation, Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, representative of the chairman of Akure South Local Government, Mrs Adeola Fynch while the Olowo and chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers was represented by the Oloba of Uso, Oba Adeola Adebiyi Oyinbade.

Technical sessions were led by Prof. Adegboyega Oguntade and Prof. Tomola Obamuyi of the Federal University of Technology Akure.
