……Applauds BTO performance, Union takes fresh decisions on OSRC, HOPE newspaper
…..Union encourages members to participate actively in the forthcoming 2025 Press Week Celebrations slated for 14th — 21st December, 2025.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE CONGRESS OF THE NIGERIA UNION OF JOURNALISTS, NUJ, ONDO STATE COUNCIL, HELD ON THURSDAY 27TH NOVEMBER 2025 AT THE PRESS CENTRE, ALAGBAKA, AKURE
The Congress presided over by the State Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite and was well-attended by members of the union across all chapels.
It deliberated on issues of concern, ranging from politics, economy, security, agriculture, environment to welfare of members among others and resolved as follows;
1. That the Congress expressed appreciation to the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his intervention and commitment in building a new structure for the union to further make the Press Centre at Alagbaka, Akure more conducive for journalists and urged the Ministry of Infrastructure, Lands and Housing to speed up the project so that it can be commissioned during the 50th anniversary of ONDO NUJ and the creation of the state early next year.
- That the Congress also extended its appreciation to the Minister of Youths Development, Hon Ayodele Wisdom Olawande for his generous financial support for the renovation of dilapidated main building at our Press Centre and his intention to rally support for the building of a new Press Centre Chalet.
- That Ondo NUJ applauded the Youths Minister and the Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for delivering on their national mandates, thus giving Ondo state quality representation at the National level.
- That the Congress called on the 12 National Assembly members from Ondo state not to forget Ondo NUJ in their various developmental efforts in view of the strategic roles of the media in the society.
- That the Congress called on the Ondo state government to scale up the process of making Owena Press (The Hope newspaper) a corporation under the State Ministry of Information so that it can strictly comply with Public Service Rules and Regulations for sake of career progression of the staff members.
- That the Congress calls on the Ondo State government to ensure payment of four months minimum wage arrears that have been outstanding since late last year and beginning of this year.
- That the Ondo NUJ Congress commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Director General of OSRC/Orange FM Media Group, Mr Kenneth Stevenson Odusola for granting permanent employment to temporary staff of the state owned media organization, thereby eliminating casualisation of media workers.
- That the Union noted the growing security concerns across the country and enjoined the South West Governors to continue to fund and strengthen the Amotekun Corps, a regional security initiative that has shown great promise in tackling insecurity in the region.
- That the Congress emphasized that security is a collective effort of every resident and encouraged everyone to be proactive and work together to address security challenges and ensure a safe and secured society.
