Interior Minister, Tunji-Ojo hosts CAN to Christmas Funfair in Ondo

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday hosted Christian faithful under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to a Christmas fun-fair in Okeagbe Akoko, Ondo State, as part of activities marking the yuletide season.

The colourful event brought together CAN members in Ondo state who gathered to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in an atmosphere of joy, fellowship and prayer.

Speaking at the event, the Minister who was represented at the event by Honorable Fafunmilade Adetilewa described Christmas as a season of reflection, love and sacrifice, urging Christians to use the period to spiritually intervene on behalf of the nation.

He called on the faithful to pray for peace, unity and progress, noting that Nigeria stands in need of collective goodwill and divine guidance.

According to him, beyond celebrations, Christmas should remind believers of their responsibility to promote peace, show compassion and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

The guest speaker, The Rt. Reverend Bada who also doubles as the Bishop of Akoko Anglican Diocese commended the Minister for his giant strides as the minister of interior.

According to him, “Tunji-Ojo is a child of convenant, he is a chosen vessel by God. That is why the ministry he is heading is striving. He is just starting; he is going higher.”

The Chairman of CAN in Ondo state, The Very Reverend Father Anslem Ologunwa represented by the State Secretary of CAN, Most Superior Rotimi Amos, urged leaders at all levels to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by being selfless, just and people-centred in their leadership.

He stressed that leading with the fear of God remains the surest path to good governance and societal stability.

The CAN chairman also commended the Minister for identifying with the Christian community during the festive season, describing the fun-fair as a unifying platform that reinforces shared values of faith, love and service.

The event featured carols, prayers for the nation and moments of interaction among Christian faithful across the senatorial district, rounding off the celebration in the true spirit of Christmas
