
Ondo State House of Assembly today passed the sum of 524,410,590,939.00 budget of the State for year 2026 fiscal year.
The budget christened Budget of Economic Consolidation has a total sum of N 220,830, 941,200.00 for Recurrent Expenditure , while N303, 579,649,739.00 has been earmarked for Capital Expenditure for the services of Ondo State of Nigeria.
The bill was unanimously passed into law through voice votes by lawmakers at a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House , Rt. Hon. (Chief ) Olamide Oladiji in Akure today.
The passage of the bill followed the submission of the report of the Chairman,House Committee on Finance and Appropriation,Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi , representing Owo constituency 1.
According to the report , Ministries of Economic planning and Budget , Finance in collaboration with Ondo State lnternal Revenue Service (ODIRS) should ensure that the desire of the State Government to boost its independent revenue is pursued seriously in line with the dictates of the extant laws.
The committee recommended that the State Government should take all necessary steps to ensure that the expected internally generated revenue’s target is attained and also ensure that all necessary steps are taken in ensuring training and retraining of public servants for effective and quality performance.
The leader of the House, Honourable Olatunji Oshati , lawmaker representing Ose Constituency,had earlier moved the motion for the bill to be passed into law and seconded by Rt. Honourable (Prince ) Akinruntan Abayomi , representing Ilaje 2 Constituency.
According to Honourable Oshati, with the passage of the budget,the State stands to witness more transformational development in year 2026.
Recall that the State Governor, Dr. Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on November 18 presented a proposed budget of N492 Billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly .
In another development, the House has also passed the sum of N5, 563,05,120.00 billion budget for Ondo State lnternal Revenue Service (ODIRS).
The Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon.Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, also presented the report of the committee to the House for consideration .
The leader of the House , Hon. Olatunji Oshati, moved the motion for the passage of the bill and seconded by the House Deputy Speaker, Rt.Hon. Gbegudu Ololade .
In his remark, the Speaker of the House Rt.Hon(Chief )Olamide Oladiji, appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support to the House in all spheres.
According to him,the House has recorded numerous achievements in various areas with the passage of several life_ impacting bills into law,such as:a Bill for a law to provide for the prohibition of unlawful societies and cultism in all learning Institutions and communities in Ondo State ; A Bill for a law to provide for the prohibition of the Act of kidnapping and abduction;A Bill for a law to provide for the registration of domestic staff in Ondo State, among several others.
Oladiji who appreciated other lawmakers for their corporation and commitment to legislative duties,also praised the staff of the House for their unalloyed support at all times.
The Speaker,later announced that the House would proceed on a six – week recess , starting today December 23,2025 to February 9, 2026.
