Aiyedatiwa’s LGA tour is a strategic move —Dr. Olumuyiwa Daramola

The recent tour of the eighteen local government areas in Ondo State by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has been described as a strategic move that is worth commending.

The stance was given by Dr. Olumuyiwa Daramola in a chat with journalists last Friday.

Daramola, a US-Based epidemiologist and Drug design expert spoke on a wide range of issues pertaining to politics and governance in Ondo State, including the recent tour of the local government areas by Governor Aiyedatiwa.

In his words: “I am impressed with the quality of governance in Ondo State. I do not hold this opinion because I belong in the same political party with the governor. I believe it is fair to acknowledge merit where it exists, and we do not have to play politics with everything.

“The governor is being strategic about development and noiseless too. If you study how he has approached issues of governance and the results he is achieving in the various spheres, you will realise that he is a very focused person.

“For instance, many do not see his recent visit to the local government areas as strategic, but that is what it was. People tend to see only the fanfare, but the discerning would know that the move is beyond show. If you care to know, the tour was a strategic move to feel the people’s pulse and get necessary feedback, and I believe it was a win-win trip.”

On his plan to contest for the party’s ticket to represent the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, the accomplished medic said his ambition is not a personal but a communal project.

“I have sought the party’s ticket repeatedly. At each round, I have expended time and resources, but beyond that, I have consistently carried the corporate desire of my people for quality representation and ideological difference. My ambition thus represents this collective clamour for change, and I am always prepared to lead the all-important aspiration.” Daramola said.
