The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Ondo State Chapter, has explained how leave bonus of its members would henceforth be paid by government.
SUNSHINETRUTH gathered that the state Joint Account Allocations Committee, (JAAC), had started payment of the leave bonus on monthly basis from August, 2021.
Comrade Oyerinde Ogbaro, Ondo State NULGE Publicity Secretary, confirmed this in a statement issued on behalf of the Union.
Below is the full text of statement;
JAAC APPROVAL IN RESPECT OF LEAVE BONUS
For the avoidance of doubt, Leave Bonus issue which has become a recurring decima had been resolved between the Ondo State NLC and the State Government to the effect that commencing from the Year 2021 that Leave Bonus had been consolidated into Workers monthly salary.
The implication of this as it affects the Leave Bonus to be paid this month is that there is no longer bulk payment of Leave Bonus once in a year.In order word,the Yearly Leave Bonus is hereby divided by the Twelve Months in a year and the amount we get will stand for the consolidated Leave bonus.Of course,we all know that Leave Bonus is 10% of the Annual Basic salary of an employee for a year.
2.How does the foregoing affects our JAAC OUTCOME this Month? Very simple,we shall be paid the share of Leave Bonus as applicable to our grade levels with effect from AUGUST this year whilst that of the months from January to July, 2021 had fallen into the category of arrears.
Besides,it is no longer news that Leave Bonus for 2019 for Grade Levels 07-16/17 are still in arrears and also the Leave Bonus for the Year 2020 across all the Grade Levels are also in arrears.
This is just the simplest explanation as regards the Leave Bonus approved by JAAC for our collection this month.It is our fervent hope that as distributable revenue allocation continues to appreciate,the months and years of Leave Bonus arrears including that of salaries shall be holistically addressed.
