…as HoS salutes wife’s passion for environmental cleanliness
The General Manager, Ondo State Waste Management Authority (ODSWMA), Rev’d (Mrs) Clara Ayo Adeyemo, has been conferred with National Leadership Meritorious Award as the Living Hero on Environmental Affairs in Nigeria 2021.
The prestigious award was conferred on the General Manager by an Abuja based-television station, The New Nigeria News (TNNTV) Channels.
Presenting the award to Rev’d Adeyemo at the Alagbaka head office of the ODSWMA, the Chairman/CEO of TNNTV Channels, Segun Akinde, explained that the award was in recognition of the GM’s excellent performance and achievement in environmental cleanliness to ensure healthy living and economic growth of the state.
The colourful event was graced by the husband of the awardee and Head of Service of the state, Pastor John Adeyemo, mni, their children; the Permanent Secretary, Ondo state Pension Transitional Department, Oladele Akinmoye; the Chairman, State Waste Management Committee, Kehinde Badejo; top officials and other members of staff of ODSWMA.
Also at the event, the awardee was also decorated as Living Hero Ambassador on Environmental Affairs in Nigeria.
Akinde particularly applauded the uncommon courage and commitment of Rev’d Adeyemo to ensure hygienic and healthy environment across the state which also led to the closure of some popular shopping malls in the state capital some weeks ago, stressing that the management of the media organisation is proud of her active and selfless service to humanity and God.
“You are a pacesetter, development oriented leader, idea developer, advocate of justice, an intellectual and diplomatic dogged fighter, a goal getter and dedicated environmental officer per excellence whose performance has attracted several recommendations from both local and international communities”, he said.
Speaking at the event, the Head of Service who happens to be the husband of the awardee, Pastor John Adeyemo, specially lauded his wife for her uncommon virtue of hard-work, commitment to duty and determination to rid the state of all forms of unhealthy and unsanitary practices.
“My darling wife, Rev’d Mrs Adeyemo started way back in this Authority, she has shown passion for her job. She has shown willingness and doggedness to make sure things are done right and that our environment is kept clean always.
“We believe health is wealth and of course we will be better off in this nation if we take cleanliness, neatness, and hygienic environment serious. All these will positively affect the wealth of the nation. When workers and everybody are in good health condition, productivity will improve and economy will improve.
“So, the award is well deserved, and I’m happy you are recognised for your hard-work and passion for healthy environment. I appreciate God in your life for this. I know this honour is not just for her alone, it is for the entire Waste Management Authority, so I congratulate you all and I appreciate you for your support and cooperation.
“I want to tell you that even today, the Chairman of retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries in Western Nigeria at a function in Akure confirmed that Ondo state today is cleaner, and this is as a result of all the efforts of the Waste Management Authority led by my wife.
“As the Head of Service, I have seen what all of you are doing and it is highly commendable. I always see many of you even by 9pm, 10pm still working on the streets to ensure people don’t dump waste in the media and other unauthorised places. This is a very responsible act which has really assisted government a lot’_ the HoS added.
Also in separate Goodwill messages, the Chairman State Waste Management Committee, Kehinde Badejo; the ODSWMA DFA, Mrs A. C Ayomide; Director of Enlightenment, Kunle Olajumbu and the EHOAN President, Mrs Funmi Akintade, celebrated the awardee, describing her as a good team leader and driver with uncommon energy and passion for work.
Also, one of the children of the awardee, Mrs Sola Adeyinka, described her mother as very tenacious who believes in perfection and will not accept excuse for failure.
Speaking after receiving the award, Rev’d Adeyemo appreciated the management and staff of the TNNTV Channels for honouring her with the award, saying it will spur her and her team to do more for improved health of the people of the state.
While appreciating God and the state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for appointing her GM of the Authority, Rev’d Adeyemo said the award came as a surprise to her. She dedicated the award to the entire staff of the Authority.
She added that her commitment to the cleanliness of the state is total, just as she solicited the cooperation and support of all residents to achieve the desired result.
