Ondo govt takes fresh step to end Oka/Supare land dispute

ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT WADES INTO LAND DISPUTE BETWEEN SUPARE AND OKA AKOKO
– SETS UP COMMITTEE

Following the recent outbreak of land dispute between Supare And Oka Akoko communities in Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state and the subsequent peace meetings held at the instance of the state government, the Acting Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has set up a fact-finding committee to inquire into the the immediate and remote causes of the dispute with a view to finding a permanent resolution to the matter.

The composition of the committee is as follow:
i. Hon. Ade Adeogun (Akoko S/W) – Chairman
ii. His Excellency, Alhaji Ali Olanusi (Supare Akoko) – Member
iii. Hon. Kolawole Babatunde (Akoko S/E) – Member
iv. RT. Hon. Victor Olabimtan (Supare Akoko) Member
v. Rtd. Gen. J.O. Olorunfemi (Supare Akoko) – Member
vi. Hon. Gbenga Omole (Oka Akoko) – Member
vii. Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo (SSA Security) – Member
viii. Mr. Felix Alonge (Oka Akoko) – Member
ix. Mr. Clement Dara (Oka Akoko) – Member
x. Mr. S. A. Adigun (Surveyor General) – Secretary

The committee is expected to broker immediate and lasting peace in the communities, investigate causes of the dispute, assess the level of attendant damage and make recommendations to the state government on the resolution of the crisis among other things.

Government further directed that the committee commences work immediately and submit its report within two weeks.
