The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, however said a groom and four other persons died and nine others injured in a ghastly motor accident which occurred at Aponmu community along Akure-Ondo express road yesterday.
The groom simply identified as Adewale was returning to Akure with his wife after their wedding held at Ikoyi Registry last Saturday when the incident occurred.
The new wife was said to have been seriously injured in the accident.
It was gathered that the fatal accident occurred on Sunday at about 12:30 pm involving one 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus, Reg No: AAA 895 XC that plunged into River Owena along Akure-Ondo road in the state.
Men of the FRSC said the driver lost control as a result of over speeding.
According to reports, three male, one female and one child died in the accident, while nine male, five female and three children survived.
It was gathered that the injured victims have been taken to the General Hospital in Akure for treatment.
