Six arrested for kidnapping two persons in Ondo

A traveller from Lagos, Mrs. Taiwo Akinwumi who was kidnapped for over twenty days ago in Ondo state, has been rescued from her abductors by men of the Nigeria Police.

This is coming even as the security operatives apprehended five herdmen in connection with the kidnapping.

Those arrested are; Umaru Usman; Abdullahi Umaru; Bayero Abubakar; Umaru Abubakar and Awalu musa.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo, Mr Bolaji Salami, disclosed this to journalists in Akure on thursday

Bolaji said, “On March 31, 2021 at about 1230hrs, some suspected bandits abducted Mrs. Taiwo Akinwumi who was on her way from Lagos at a point around Liyetu camp, Ondo and took her to their hideout, where she was robbed.

“On receipt of the information, detectives swung into action and she was rescued unhurt.

“On April 14, 2021 at about 1030hrs, at the exact spot where she was abducted, the following suspects were apprehended in connection of the abduction:

“On March 29, 2021, at about 1630hrs, One Mumuni Ilu of Otapete farmroad, Owo, went for grazing of cows and was kidnapped by some Fulani Herdsmen.

The Commissioner of police said one
Bature Ibrahim was also nabbed for alleged kidnapping.

“On receipt of this information, detectives swung into action and
arrested one Bature Ibrahim. During interrogation, he made a confessional statement to the commission of the crime.

“Efforts are on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang, while investigation is ongoing,” Bolaji said.
