….says BeMore Summer Bootcamp worth investing in.
An Ondo State-based Businessman, Martin Oyerinmade, Wednesday, praised the BEMORE Empowered Initiative, for its potentially life-transforming impact on the girl-child.
BeMore is an annual Summer Bootcamp programme organised by the First Lady of the Ondo State Governor, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, to train girls in solar technology, information communication technology and other life-impacting skills.
Oyerinmade spoke after touring the venue of the ongoing 2021 Ondo edition of the Summer Bootcamp programme at the Public Service Training Institute (PSTI), Ilaramokin, in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.
He affirmed that having witnessed the training activities given to the girls, he was convinced that BeMore initiative was worth investing in.
Noting that the bootcamp was aimed at developing the girls’ potential, and build their capacities, he urged Nigerians to collaborate with the First Lady’s vision.
“This is so amazing. I have heard about this programme and now I can see with my own eyes that it’s worth investing in. It’s about developing capacity, about bringing people up to achieve their potential, and that’s the most important thing we are living for; we live to better the lives of others. This project is worth investing in”, Oyerinmade said.
While expressing optimism for the sustainability of the project, he solicited the support of all to keep the vision alive in Ondo State.
Addressing the girls, the Business Mogul tasked them to maximise the opportunity by taking the training programme seriously and make everyone proud of what they will become after passing through “the university of life,” adding that not every First Lady “has the mind of doing great things for girls as Arabinrin Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu does.”
Responding on behalf of Her Excellency, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Gender Research and Documentation, Mrs Temitope Daniyan, appreciated Oyerinmade for the support and encouragement, saying, “We are grateful.”
The ongoing fourth edition which kicked off on Monday with over 350 girls in attendance, entered its Day Three on Wednesday, with the girls getting it on at the camp with dance aerobics.
The BeMore Summer Bootcamp dance coach – Brave Ogidan-Eyinla – and her team took the girls through the fun fitness routine, noting that rhythmic aerobic is not just a good stress reliever, but is also good for the entire body.
Next was personal hygiene and sanitation, followed by fruits and breakfast. Later the girls had lessons on Microsoft Office Productivity Tools in their ICT classes.
Another highlight was the leadership session which started with a networking session to help the girls interact amongst themselves.
After a short dance to help the girls loosen up and relax, the class had a breakout session where the girls deliberated on issues of leadership.
The girls were divided into groups and made presentations with three girls representing each team.
A session on effective leadership was taken by the Ashdam Facilitator, where the girls learned the attributes of an effective leader. Damilola Ashaleye of Ashdam Solar anchored the session on introduction to renewable energy, where the girls learned about clean energy and the sources, among other things.
The two-week bootcamp has produced over 1500 girls empowered with problem-solving skills, social and leadership skills, information and communication technology and renewable energy.
