MMPN vows to defend Muslim journalists in Kogi

…AS KOGI STATE CHAPTER COMMENCES ACTIVITIES

Members of Kogi State Chapter of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria(MMPN) have been urged to uphold the aims and objectives of the Association.

The North Central Zonal Coordinator of the Association, Mallam Mustafa Abubakar stated this in a message to the maiden meeting of the Association in Lokoja.

Represented by the State Coordinator-Designate Mallam Muhammad Yabagi of the Graphics Newspaper Lokoja, the Zonal Coordinator disclosed that the aim and objectives of the Association is to promote, preserve, protect and cater for the religious, moral, social as well as spiritual advancement of Muslims Media Practitioners in Nigeria.

Mallam Abubakar, who commended the Muslim Media Practitioners in Kogi State for starting the Association in the state, noted that it was a step in the right direction and urged them to engage in lawful activities that will promote literacy and intellectual pursuits among all members in particular the study of Islamic concept of accurate and balance reportage as taught by the Prophet which is also part of the ethics taught by the profession.

“With your involvement as members of MMPN you are helping to sustain a culture of journalistic integrity that promotes tranquil Islamic values and ensures it remain as practiced and advised by Prophet Muhammad(SAW)”.

He urged members to cooperate with other Muslim Associations having similar aims and objectives for the propagation of Islam and the benefit of humanity at large.

The Zonal Coordinator also noted that the Association is Non-Partisan but free to engage in lawful activities.

The meeting which was attended by Muslim veterans, elders and members of the Media in the State also adopted the nomination of Patrons ,Advisers and State Executives-Designate members to direct the affairs of the Association in the State.

They are Alhaji Abdusallam Abubakar from NTA Lokoja as the Assistant Coordinator; Hajiya Fatima Ali from Radio Nigeria as the Treasurer;Mallam Wole Ibrahim of the Correspondent Chapel as the Auditor; Bashir Abubakar of Correspondent Chapel as the Chief Missioner;Mallam Labaran Baba of Radio Kogi as the Head of Shura Committee, Mallama Khadija of NTA Lokoja as a member of the Shura committee as well as Alhaji Ibrahim Obansa, Hajiya Aishat of Federal Information and Alhaji Sa’id Adamu of Information Chapel.
