“We want Adebo Idajo back as Ondo NURTW Chairman”

A group known as “the Concerned Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ondo state” has called on those fuelling crisis in the union to allow peace to reign.

The group said Comrade Jacob Adebo popularly known as Idajo should be allowed to spend his second term in office as the state chairman of the union.

They noted that there was peace in the state chapter throughout the first term of Idajo until the tail end when some people who wanted the chairman out started to cause trouble.

A statement by the group signed by its leader, Olufemi Falodun aka Warri, asked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the NURTW national leadership not to listen to the lies some people are spreading against Idajo.

The statement said: “Since the beginning of the union in Ondo state, Comrade Jacob Adebo that people known as Idajo is the best chairman we have ever had. He has contributed significantly enough to the development of the union and welfare of its members.

“There was peace in the union throughout his first term. But few months to the end of the term, some people started to foment trouble. They started to spread lies and falsehood against the chairman only because they wanted to drive him out of office.

“As chairman, Comrade Jacob Adebo took care of members. He protected them against any form of harassment while doing their job. He was fond of monitoring the progress of members.

“Apart from that, Comrade Jacob Adebo likes to help people. He installed boreholes in some areas for the use of the people. He paid school fees of a great number of students. He gave money to a lot of people to do or promote their businesses. He assisted them in building their houses and buying their vehicles. During festive periods, he would distribute cash and foodstuffs to people.

“But some people hated him for being good to others. They wanted him out of office at all cost. That’s why they caused trouble and started spreading lies again him.

“They told our national leadership that it was Comrade Jacob Adebo that prevented Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu from donating buses to the union. This is a big lie. How could he have stopped Mr. Governor from giving us vehicles? He loves the union. So, he could not do such a thing.

“We, therefore, appeal to those causing trouble not to allow opposition political parties to continue to use them. They should allow peace to reign in the interest of members of the union. Idajo must be allowed to do his second term in office.

“We also appeal to Governor Akeredolu and our national leadership not to listen to the lies that are being spread against Comrade Jacob Adebo. His enemies just want to call his dog a bad name in order to hang it.”
