Imbibe best Health practices, Ondo lawmakers told

It is imperative to imbibe sound and improved health practices to enhance efficient legislative performance.

This was the submission of health-care experts at the opening of a three-day workshop on health and wellness, for Ondo State Legislators, in Akure.

The health experts drawn from the nation’s ivory tower, in their turns, took the Lawmakers through healthy practices and habits necessary to prepare them for sound and effective legislative work.

Declaring the session open, Speaker of the House, Rt Honourable Oleyelogun Bamidele David, commended the organisers of the workshop for taking their time to organize the programme for Lawmakers in the state House of Assembly.

While thanking God for endowing the Lawmakers with sound health to partake in the workshop, Oleyelogun also commended Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu,SAN for his ever caring posture and interest in developing the state and the people.

The Speaker noted that the workshop was meant to expose, educate and enlighten the legislators on best health management practices considering the enormity of their schedule in their services to the people.

Oleyelogun observed that the workshop was timely and well conceived coming up at a time when most of the Lawmakers would be combining electioneering with their primary assignment of lawmaking.

He was optimistic that the gains of the workshop would be felt even after their current legislative experience.

The workshop was attended by the twenty-five Lawmakers drawn from the state constituencies.

Topics of discussion at the opening session of the three-day workshop include: determinants of health, factors affecting one’s health status, managing the legislators health and ergonomics and improving positive legislators.

The three-day workshop continues today.
