Ondo NANNM pays Tribute to ex-Chief Nursing Officer, late Mrs Clara Atandeyi

The Ondo State Chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has described a former Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs Clara Welola ATANDEYI, who passed on recently at the age of 75, as an epitome of professionalism in the health sector of the state.

While paying tribute to the late Mrs Atandeyi, the Chairman of the Association, Comrade Kehinde Olomiye, said members and leadership of Ondo NANNM, would not forget major roles played by her in mentoring many nurses in the state who have continued to contribute to a virile healthcare in the state over the years.

The NANNM Chairman declared that health workers and the people of the state could attest to professional prowess of Mrs Atandeyi when she was still in service.

He said she was dutiful, accommodating and caring, hence she had a fulfilling working career that made her to rise to the pick of nursing profession in the state.

“We will surely miss her motherly roles, a very intelligent professional who was committed to the growth of nursing profession and health sector. We will miss her immense contributions to our profesaion and our Association; Adieu Mama Clara Welola ATANDEYI,” Comrade Olomiye said.

Mrs Clara Welola ATANDEYI, who died recently at the age of 75, was the wife of Chief Adewole Atandeyi, the First Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the first Ondo State Governor (Commander Ita David Ikpeme).

Chief Atandeyi, a veteran journalist who also served as the Permanent Secretary and Director of the Ondo state Ministry of Information.

Announcing the death of their Matriarch, Omobayode Atandeyi, the son, who is also US based-Engineer, said she returned to her heavenly home in the early hours of July 25, 2023 during a brief illness.

Engr Omobayode said, “Mrs Clara Atandeyi was a home maker who will be deeply missed by all who came across her. As a Chief Nursing Officer, she dedicated her entire life to serving others with compassion, care and kindness; her dedication to selfless service and steadfastness earned her a State Award on 16th September 2010 when the then Governor of Onde State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko gave her a State Award for Honesty and Integrity

“She is survived by an aged husband, Chief Adewole Atandeyi, enterprising and God-fearing children and grandchildren including United States-based Medical Doctor, Engineers and others, as well as brothers, sisters and cousins

Her burial ceremony held on 15th September, 2023 in Akure, the state capital was attended by the NANNM executives and members led by the State Chairman, Comrade Kehinde Olomiye
