Human Trafficking: Expertise France boosts NAPTIP operations in Ondo

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP) in partnership with an international agency, Expertise France, has stepped up the war against human trafficking in Ondo State.

To this effect, Expertise France, one of NAPTIP’s Partners has renovated the NAPTIP office in Akure, the State capital.

Expertise France, one of NAPTIP’s Partners is a French International Technical Cooperation Agency funded by the European Union supports the fight against human trafficking in the States of the gulf of Guinea.

Partnership is essential to the success of global anti trafficking efforts as no one agency or Country can effectively tackle the scourge of Human trafficking.

Recently, Expertise France renovated the NAPTIP office and shelter in Akure Ondo state.

The structure which was equipped with state of the art equipment, was donated to NAPTIP by the Ondo state government in 2022 as part of its supports in the fight  against human trafficking.

On the 14th of February 2024, the office and shelter were officially handed over to NAPTIP by the Country Project Manager of Expertise France Benjamin Eneanya who said his body decided to give the facilities face-lift to boost capacity of NAPTIP to wage war against human trafficking in Ondo state.

The Country Project Manager commended the Director-General of NAPTIP Prof Fatima Waziri-Azi for effective leadership and giant strides in combating Human Trafficking in Nigeria.

The Representative of the Director-General, the NAPTIP Zonal Commander in Osun state, Chinedu Ajaegbu thanked Expertise France for their Immense support.

Officials of the Ondo state government, Adeola Aderinola, Director Tourism at the state ministry of Culture and Tourism and Mr Adebayo Oyegunwa Director Social Welfare from the State Ministry of Women Affairs commended Expertise France and pledged continued support to NAPTIP.

The State Commander of NAPTIP in Ondo state Taiwo Adegboyega who conducted the team round the facilities, assured stakeholders that the agency would redouble its efforts in fighting human trafficking in the state.

The renovation of the Akure of the NAPTIP is a demonstration of Effective partnership as the fight against human trafficking requires the whole of government and whole of society, approach.
