RUGIPO trains Staff, students on upgrading old vehicles to new model

The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo in Ondo State (RUGIPO) on friday 28th June, 2024, took a major step to upgrade old vehicles to new model, as the institution organized a special workshop for its staff to this effect.

The workshop is an empowerment programme for both staff and students irrespective of course of study, as well as allow them to think beyond their conventional boundaries.

During the workshop held at the school’s 800 Seaters Hall, the Resource Person and Consultant, Otunba Gbemi Oyeniyi, emphasized the importance of innovative thinking, especially in the automotive industry.

Otunba Oyeniyi noted that despite advancement in technology, many cars have remained largely unchanged for over sixteen years, with only little or no updates to their bodies and interiors.

The Consultant challenged the participants to broaden their perspectives, saying, “your course of study should not limit your potentials. Think outside the box and explore new possibilities.”

In his remarks, the Acting Rector of RUGIPO, Mr. Olorunwa Adegun, welcomed members of the polytechnic community to the training, expressing delight at the opportunity to share the innovative strategies with the entire polytechnic family.

The Acting Rector explained that the workshop was aimed at benefitting both staff and students, with staff members learning the process of upgrading their vehicles to new model and students would gain knowledge of the training platform.

He said the management is committed to enhancing the welfare of staff and students.

Adegun thanked the Consultant/Guest Lecturer for leading the workshop and encouraged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity.

“This event demonstrates the polytechnic’s dedication to innovation, staff development, and student empowerment”.

A Centre of Excellence is going to be established at the polytechnic where it can earn additional income.
