Commendation as Reps member Adefarati provides 26 boreholes for Akoko communities

To tackle challenges that associated with water shortage facing residents of communities in Akoko South East/ South West federal constituency, the federal lawmaker representing the area, Asiwaju (Hon.) Adegboyega Adefarati, has facilitated 26 boreholes across the wards in the federal constituency.

The project which cut across the towns of Akungba, Supare, Oba, Ikun, Oka Akoko, Epinmi, Isua, Ifira, Ipe, Ipesi amongst others will be executed in all the 26 wards within the constituency.

Speaking on the projects, the lawmaker said the projects which will be delivered by July 2024 was part of his promise to make portable and drinkable water available to the people of the area.

He noted that the topography of the area makes it difficult in accessing portable water for the people especially in the dry season and said the intervention becomes necessary to put smiles on the faces of the people.

He said before now, water and a healthcare facility were among the most essential needs of the agrarian community and will be given adequate attention in order to make life more meaningful to the people.

“The borehole we are putting in place across communities are part of our promise made during electioneering campaign and this borehole is one of many projects to be executed in various communities” he said

Commending the lawmaker, a community leader in Oka Akoko, Chief A Salawu, lauded the ingenuity of the lawmaker, pointing out that the projects was an indication of an exemplary gesture by the lawmaker.

According to him, lawmakers representing the area have failed to address the scarcity of water in the area, saying the steps taken by Adefarati shows he is part of the people of the communities who also understand their immediate need.

“We appreciate Hon.Adegboyega Adefarati for his good will to addressing crucial community needs and support in enhancing our living standards, your leadership serves as an inspiration to us all and we look forward to continue the good work.

He described as timely intervention of water problem in the area, and urged the lawmaker to extend his empowerment programme beyond the youth and women in Akoko community.

Another community leader, Mrs Taiwo Agbaje, lauded the donor saying that his gesture was unprecedented in the history of the community.

Agbaje appealed to the people of the community to ensure the good use of the borehole and to protect it from being vandalised.
