18yrs of vacant stool: Ipesi-Akoko seeks timely Aiyedatiwa’s approval of new monarch

After 18years of interregnum, women, leaders and youths of Ipesi AKOKO community of the AKOKO South East Local government area of Ondo State have appealed to the Ondo state Government under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to give timely approval to the selection process for new Olupesi.

This was relayed to newsmen on Friday after a joint meeting held in Ipesi community, comprising of the elders forum, youth group and market women in the ancient town Ipesi, revealing that the town has been without a crown king since the demise of the late monarch in 2006.

According to the details released by the elders of the community to newsmem after the joint meeting, “we have been without a king since 2006, though a regent was appointed for us but we hardly see her in this community, we live in this community and we are aware of everything that is going on here, at the moment we need a crown king for our community.

According to Chief Katola, “we have reached an agreement with ourselves after due consultations with the rolling house and we have a vibrant youth that is qualified to rule and turn our community around for good, in person of Prince Adesoji Benson Makanjuola, we appeal to our olori Ebi, Prince Sola Amodeni to call for a meeting to further stop unnecessary delay on our selection process.

The Makanjuola family is the next family to produce the next Olupesi based on the normal arrangements and they have presented a candidate, Prince Adesoji Benson is the candidate of our choice.

While speaking, representative of the youths in the community, Owanori Samson emphasized on the various neglect of Government in the community based on the fact there is no King, he however declares that, the youths are ready to by the choice of candidate from the Makonjuola family to be the next Olipesi, while pleading to the state Government on prompt selection process he assured maximum cooperation from all the youths of the community towards a peaceful selection process.

The elders forum in conjunction with the women and all the youths however appeals to Governor Aiyedatiwa to as a matter of urgency order a quick selection process for the new Olupesi and unanimously agreed that the candidate of makanjuola family , Prince Adesoji Benson Makanjuola should be the next Olupesi
