There are indications that all is not well with the PDP ahead of the 2024 governorship election in Ondo State.
This followed the crisis brewing over the setting up of the Campaign Council.
The state chapter of the party has swiftly disowned the campaign council announced by the governorship candidate.
A statement by the spokesperson for the governorship candidate, Sam Ogunmusi, announced the appointment of Dr Eddy Olafeso, as the Chairman of its Campaign Council.
Ogunmusi in the statement issued in Akure, said that other appointments, include Clement Faboyede, Director General (DG) Campaign Council , Barr. John Ola Mafo, Director General (Special Duties) and Mr Deji Aseniserare who has been appointed as Secretary of the Campaign Council.
While saying that all appointment takes off with immediate effect, the statement added that other heads and members of the Campaign Council are expected to be announced in due course.
But in a swift response, the states Publicity Secretary of the party, Kennedy Peretei, disowned the campaign council.
Peretei, declared that the “announcement by one Samuel Ogunmusi appointing persons to coordinate the Campaigns of H.E Agboola Ajayi for the November Election is not only embarrassing but a violation of the PDP Constitution (2017 as Amended).
“Articles 46(1) and 40(1)(a)(b) and (c) does not permit of such announcement coming from individuals not known to the party.
“To such an extent, all the supposed announcements are null, void and of no effect.
“Our party is an organised party and guided by rule of law.
Peretei added that ”at the appropriate time, appointments for the Local Campaign Council will be made public.
