New AIG takes over in Ondo, Ekiti, warns against reprisal attack in Akoko

A new Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Mr Etim Ene-Okon has been deployed to take charge of ZONE-Seventeen covering Ondo and Ekiti States.

Assuming duty in Akure, AIG Ene-Okon promised to sustain relative stability and peace in the two states, noting that he would get proper briefing from the two police state commands on how to tackle isolated cases of crimes.

On the recent killings of Ondo state bound travellers in Plateau state by gunmen, the new AIG appealed to the people of Akoko area to remain calm as the Inspector General of Police, the Ondo state and the federal governments were working hard to fish out perpetrators for punishment.

Ene-Okon cautioned against reprisal attack in Akokoland over the Jos killings, promising that justice would be done.

Until his recent posting to Zone 17 Akure, Ene-Okon was the AIG Zone 9, Umuahia.

The Ondo state Commissioner of police, Bolaji Salami and other top police hierarchy received the new AIG to his office in Akure.

AIG ETIM ENE OKON fdc OFFICIALLY ASSUMES DUTY AS THE AIG ZONE 17,AKURE

This is to inform the general public of the assumption of duty of  the newly posted  Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of ZONE 17 (Ondo & Ekiti States).

The AIG is a graduate of Political Science from the University of Ibadan popularly known as The Premier University  and bagged his Msc in Public Administration from the University of Uyo.

He  enlisted into the Force as a Cadet ASP in 1988, the pioneer set of the Police Academy.

AIG ENE has served in various capacities  within and outside the Country as DCO and  DPO of various Divisions, Commanding Officer of Nos 7 & 15 PMF Squadrons, Contingent Commander, Nigeria Police Formed Unit to the United Nation Peace Keeping  Operations in Haiti, Deputy Director, Peace Keeping Department etc.

He also served as ACP  Operations, Benue Command,
Area Commander Oron,
DCP  Logistics & Supply, FHQ
DCP  Dept. Of Fin & Admin. Abia States
DCP State Criminal Investigation Dept, Owerri .

In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of the Commissioner of Police and was posted to Benue State Command, CP FSARS, CP Abia state Command and CP Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit, FHQ Abuja.

On his promotion as an Assistant Inspector General of Police, he was  deployed as the Zonal AIG for Zone 12.

The AIG is a Fellow of the  National Defence College, a  member of International Association of Chiefs of Police( IACP), an award winner of  medals  locally and internationally,
