A socio-political group, Omoluabi Coalition Group, (OCC) has declared that the opposition will be decimated if a foremost aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, Chief Olusola Oke, as the ruling party’s candidate for the 2024 governorship election
This is just as the group described Oke as the most competent and best man for the governorship seat of state.
The group who threw its weight behind Oke’s aspiration during a Press Conference which was held to read a communique issued after its meeting in Akure, the state capital.
The Director General of Omoluabi Coalition Group, Comrade Tunji Balogun, said Oke’s choice will create a centripetal force that will ultimately decimate anything
opposition in the State.
He noted that Oke’s political pedigree, singled him out as team player and a bridge builder.
Balogun who analysed Oke’s candidature represent various interests that cut across all divides.
He said “The race for the Alagbaka
Government House has necessitated the need for us, as a global umbrella body of
Yorùbá cultural heritage to examine the credentials of each of the aspirants in
juxtaposition with their acceptability by the grassroots, antecedents, public decorum
as well as their contributions to the society and background assessment of each of the aspiring candidates.
“It was obvious how many of them
have the requisite experience and grassroots appeal that the Ondo electorates may want to consider. Our group were therefore left with no choice than to submit as follows; that Chief Olusola Oke of all the aspirants appears, in our views, to tick all the
parameters or yardsticks.
“Aside having the grassroots appeal that cuts across
the three Senatorial Districts of the State, he has a wide network of national
recognition having worked at the top echelon of the opposition People’s
Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level for years which gave him that
prominence beyond local politics.
“His cult followership as well as unblemished
records of no scandal whatsoever are also added advantage for him.
“We therefore rise from this press conference and submit that, as the
umbrella body of the global Yorùbá foremost group, we believe the candidature of
Chief Olusola Oke (SAN) will represent various interests that cut across all divides.
“The State at this critical time needs a leader who can mend
fences, calm frayed nerves and bring all progressives together as one force to
deliver resounding victory for the ruling party.”
The group commiserated with the people of Ondo state, and leadership of APC over the demise of Dr. Paul Akintelure, one of the prominent gubernatorial aspirants under the platform of APC in the forthcoming gubernatorial race.
“We pray for the repose of his soul and ask that God grant his immediate family, friends, political associates and the entire people of Ondo State the fortitude to bear his irreparable loss.”
